If you are tired of receiving hundreds of unnecessary messages in WhatsApp groups every day, constantly searching for important information and missing important announcements, the instant messaging platform WhatsApp has some exciting news for you.
The company has announced four new features designed to make group chats easier to manage, more organised and less time-consuming.
1. Mentions and replies filter: No more scrolling through messages
Users will no longer need to scroll through hundreds of messages to find conversations relevant to them.
A new “Mentions & Replies” filter will appear when users swipe down in the chat list. By tapping on it, they will be able to view only messages in which they have been tagged (@), replies to their messages, or announcements sent using the @all feature.
2. Pin messages for an unlimited period
Previously, WhatsApp allowed users to pin important messages, such as notices or addresses, for only 24 hours, seven days or 30 days.
With the new feature, users can now pin important messages at the top of a chat indefinitely, until they decide to remove them.
3. Show previous chat messages to new members
New members joining WhatsApp groups often struggle to understand what has already been discussed.
The new feature will allow existing group members to share recent chat history with newly added participants.
To do so, users simply need to tap on the name of the relevant member, allowing them to access previous conversations.
4. Share status updates with specific groups
WhatsApp users will now be able to share status updates with members of a specific group instead of their entire contact list.
Group members will also be able to react to these status updates. Like other WhatsApp statuses, these updates will automatically disappear after 24 hours.
The new WhatsApp features are expected to make group conversations easier to manage, help users find important information more quickly and save time when communicating with multiple people.
