ISLAMABAD: Cloudy weather is expected in Islamabad and surrounding areas today, while the Meteorological Department says northern districts will remain extremely cold.

Rain is expected in most parts of the country including in Islamabad from tomorrow evening, according to the met department.

According to the department, the sky is likely to stay cloudy in Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas. Fog is expected in several Punjab cities including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.

 Foggy conditions are also likely in Gujrat, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Khanpur and Kot Addu.

Due to the extreme fog and smog motorways have been shut down and they will open after 10:00 am when the situation clears, according to the motorway police.

Smog is forecast in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur and adjoining areas. In Sindh, fog is expected in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana and Mohenjo Daro.

Rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Bajaur and Mohmand. Light snowfall is likely over mountains at a few places in Kurram and Khyber.

The Meteorological Department says fog is also expected in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera, while several areas of Dera Ismail Khan may remain foggy.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather is expected to remain cold and cloudy. In Azad Kashmir, rain is likely at a few places, with snowfall over the mountains.
