Langrial said that the Prime Minister has instructed a reduction in tax rates for the salaried class. He added that work has already begun to lower tax rates for salaried individuals in the upcoming budget.

FBR Tax Return Deadline Extended

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced special facilities for manual income tax filers as part of its efforts to promote online return filing and digitise the tax system.

According to the FBR, the last date for filing returns for manual taxpayers has been extended to November 30. Taxpayers submitting manual returns at FBR offices will be provided with full assistance, including support for registration and return filing.

The FBR added that if any manual taxpayer requires legal help, the field offices will offer free assistance. “We are committed to facilitating taxpayers and promoting a digitised and efficient tax system,” the FBR stated.

An FBR spokesperson said the decision aims to accommodate a small number of taxpayers who may find it difficult to shift immediately to the online filing system.

“With the goal of ensuring a smooth transition to digital filing, the FBR has discontinued manual returns from Tax Year 2024. However, recognising that some individuals may face challenges adapting to the new system, special facilitation has been introduced for such filers,” the spokesperson explained.
