ABU DHABI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction has delivered shocks, records, and surprises on its opening day.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green created history by joining Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 25.20 crore.It is the highest price ever paid to an overseas player in franchise cricket.

Indian batter Venkatesh Iyer was picked by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 7 crore.
Spinner Ravi Bishnoi became the costliest Indian buy.He was snapped up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.20 crore.

However, several big names such as England’s Liam Livingstone, India’s Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan went unsold.

Another IPL Wicket ‘Falls’ As Another Big Name Exits for PSL

Pakistan players remain barred from the league since 2009. Despite this, IPL continues to influence franchise cricket worldwide. PSL teams often follow similar auction trends and price dynamics.

KKR entered the auction with the biggest purse of Rs 64.30 crore. Chennai Super Kings followed with Rs 43.40 crore.

The IPL 2026 season will run from March 26 to May 31. More bidding drama is expected as teams fill remaining slots.
