ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a 15-day schedule for its facilitation vans, from December 22, 2025 to January 4, 2026, to provide licensing and other traffic-related services at designated police checkposts during the day and in major markets during evening hours across the federal capital.

According to ITP spokesperson, the facilitation vans will operate daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at various police checkposts, while from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the vans will remain available in different markets to ensure easy access to services for citizens.

He said the initiative aims to bring essential traffic services closer to the public, enabling citizens to obtain licences and related facilities near their homes and workplaces while avoiding long queues at traffic offices.

In addition, the Traffic Office Faizabad will provide licence-related services from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, specifically for senior citizens and women, the spokesperson added.

The facilitation vans are offering multiple services, including issuance of learner permits, driving licence renewal, duplicate licences, character certificates, and reports of lost documents.

Citizens were advised to visit the nearest facilitation van according to the schedule to avail services conveniently and save time, he said.

E-Tags for motorcycles to be launched in Islamabad

On the other hand, as part of the second phase to strengthen security system in the federal capital, the district administration has decided to include motorcycles in Islamabad’s electronic vehicle tagging (E-tags) system.

The move is part of the next phase of the capital’s digital vehicle monitoring drive.

Officials say the decision aims to strengthen security surveillance and improve traffic discipline.

So far, the system mainly covered cars and other four-wheel vehicles. Several M-Tag and E-Tag issuance centres and roadside booths have been set up across Islamabad to facilitate the public.

Motorcycles make up a large portion of daily traffic in Islamabad.

Authorities believe their inclusion will help close long-standing monitoring gaps.

RFID-based e-tag readers are being installed at key locations across the city and these readers will allow real-time identification once motorcycles are formally added to the system.
