Shahbaz Gill’s TikTok account blocked

Shahbaz Gill’s TikTok account

Shahbaz Gill’s TikTok account has been blocked.

He has often shared content from abroad that spreads baseless claims against Pakistan’s institutions.

According to sources, some of the videos or content he posted on TikTok led to this decision. After the ban, thousands of his followers can no longer access his videos.

Social media experts say accounts are usually blocked because of policy violations or breaking community rules.

It remains to be seen whether Shahbaz Gill’s account will be reactivated or permanently blocked.

Earlier, Gill was charged under the PECA-2016 Cyber Crime Act following a complaint lodged by Sub-Inspector Muneeb Zafar.

The FIR further alleged that the content shared by the accused was intended to promote an anti-state narrative, creating a distorted perception of Pakistan’s institutions.

The FIA has described his conduct as an attempt to undermine the state and incite discord among its foundational pillars.

Gill served as the spokesperson for the Punjab government during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tenure and as a special assistant to the prime minister. On August 9, 2022, Gill was arrested on sedition charges for allegedly attempting to incite Pakistani army officers to revolt. He now resides in the United States and continues to campaign for the PTI.
