Power outage hits Karachi

KARACHI: Several areas of Karachi are facing power outages as a major power breakdown occurred at the North East Karachi Pumping Station.

According to the Water Corporation spokesperson, the breakdown took place at the Old Pump House of the pumping station.

Electricity supply to the Old Pump House was cut off on Sunday, December 21, at 5:00 AM. Despite 22 hours having passed, the fault has still not been repaired.

Due to the prolonged power outage, water supply in various areas of Scheme 33 has been affected.
As a result of the breakdown, there is a shortage of 15 million gallons of water.

Islamabad weather

After a prolonged period of dry weather in Islamabad, the federal capital received its first rainfall, making the weather pleasant in the city and its surroundings.

As per details, the much-needed rain hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi early morning on Sunday (today).

A large number of people are expected to visit recreational spots, including Damn-i-Koh, Pir Sohawa, Lake View Park, Rawal Dam and Pakistan Monument with family to enjoy the pleasant weather.

The Meteorological Department stated that the spell of rain may continue intermittently, and strong winds may blow in Islamabad and other areas. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures.

According to the department, under the same weather system, rain along with snowfall is expected in Murree and the Galiyat, while snowfall is also likely in the upper areas of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Meanwhile, fog and smog are likely to persist in various plain areas of Punjab, which may affect visibility.

The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to remain cautious while traveling and to stay updated with the latest weather conditions.

Punjab weather

After rain in Islamabad, Punjab is also expected to receive rain with gusty winds and thundershowers in Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, and Layyah.

While Murree and the Galiyat may experience rain along with snowfall in mountainous areas.

Light rain or drizzle is expected in parts of Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Multan, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Toba Tek Singh.
