Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake official visits to Iran and Türkiye from July 3 to July 5, the Foreign Office confirmed on Thursday.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the prime minister will first travel to Iran, where he will attend the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with cabinet members and senior government officials, will accompany him.

During the visit, PM Shehbaz will convey condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families, while reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran during its time of mourning.

Following his visit to Iran, the Prime Minister will travel to Istanbul at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. Regional peace and security will also be discussed during the high-level talks.

As part of his visit, PM Shehbaz will address a business conference organised by Pakistan to showcase the country’s investment opportunities in key sectors, including special economic zones (SEZs), energy, information technology, trade, and privatisation. The event will bring together prominent Turkish investors, business leaders, government officials, and other distinguished participants.

The Foreign Office said the visits underscore Pakistan’s longstanding and brotherly ties with both Iran and Türkiye.

Commenting on the ongoing diplomatic efforts related to the US-Iran conflict, Andrabi said Pakistan has intensified its engagement with regional and international stakeholders to support the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 18.

He added that recent US-Iran talks held in Doha made encouraging progress on several aspects of the agreement and reaffirmed that Pakistan, in coordination with Qatar, will continue to facilitate dialogue between the two sides. The spokesperson also noted that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has remained actively engaged through consultations with his foreign counterparts in recent days.
