KARACHI: Every year, people across Pakistan observe a public holiday on December 25, on the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Christmas.
However, the netizens took to social media platforms, wondering if the public holiday would be observed this year too.
For the unversed, it is important to mention here that Federal government has announced a national holiday on December 25, Thursday (tomorrow), on the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Christmas
As per details, all the government and private offices and educational institutions will be closed.
Sindh public holidays
Earlier, the Sindh government announced a public holiday on December 26, 2025, for the Christian community, in addition to the existing holiday on December 25 for Christmas.
According to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department will remain closed on December 26.
Additionally, all government, autonomous, and semi-government institutions, corporations, and local councils under the Sindh government will remain closed on December 26.
However, employees providing essential services are exempted.
The notification also reiterates that December 25 will be observed as a public holiday in connection with both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
The holiday will apply to all government and semi-government offices, as well as corporations and local councils operating under the Sindh government.
In another notification, the provincial government confirmed December 25 as a public holiday in observance of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

SBP holiday
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also issued a notification confirming that banks will be closed for the day in observance of both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
The central bank’s announcement indicates that all financial institutions, including commercial banks, will be closed on December 25 as per the government’s directive.
