Web desk: The Punjab government has announced a landmark initiative for the upcoming academic year with the launch of the Honhaar Plus Scholarship Programme, aimed at providing outstanding students the opportunity to pursue higher education at some of the world’s most prestigious universities.
The programme will enable gifted Punjab students to continue their studies in the top 200 universities around the world, including the Ivy League universities in the US.
The program provides 100 per cent of financial support so that chosen students will be able to spend all their time studying without worrying about finances.
According to officials, the scholarship will cover all major expenses, including tuition fees, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and an annual return airfare ticket.
Punjab Government Allocates Rs 13 Billion for the Initiative
The government has estimated that on average, Rs16.5 million will be spent per student. In total, 800 students will benefit from this scheme over the next four years.
The Honhaar Plus programme will provide funding for multiple academic tracks, such as MS, Master’s, MPhil, training opportunities, and student exchange programmes.
The Punjab government is set to spend approximately Rs 13 billion on this initiative, which will support the education of the most talented minds of this province to a world standard and will allow them to make a significant contribution to the future development of Pakistan.
Eligibility for the scholarship requires students to have completed at least 16 years of education with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
Applicants must also hold a Punjab domicile. Notably, there is no age limit, and all seats will be awarded purely on merit.
Education experts have welcomed the initiative, stressing that such programmes will not only uplift the standard of higher education in Pakistan but also enhance the country’s image at the international level.
The Punjab government aims to develop a new generation of professionals, researchers, and leaders who can have a global impact on the future of Pakistan by facilitating young talent exposure to the world market.
