The incident occurred during the 14th match of the BBL. In the Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder match.

On the fourth ball of the over, batter Reece Topley struck a powerful shot. It sent the ball high into the air.

Haris Rauf, positioned at short third man, and Hilton Cartwright at deep point sprinted toward the ball.

Both players went for a full-length dive at the same time. This created a serious risk of collision. It appeared for a moment that their heads could collide.

Fortunately, both players narrowly avoided a major accident. It left the commentators momentarily stunned.

The Stars completed the run chase in just 14 overs when chasing a modest target of 129. They lost only one wicket.

Openers Joe Clarke and Sam Harper gave the Stars a flying start. They put together an 86-run partnership in 9.4 overs.

Clarke led the charge, scoring 60 off 37 balls with eight fours and a six. Harper remained unbeaten on 29 off 27, hitting two fours.

Glenn Maxwell also contributed with a quick 39* from 20 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

For the Sydney Thunder, Chris Green was the only wicket-taker.
