ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended their New Year greetings to the nation by stressing the unity and economic stability of Pakistan in 2026.
In his message, President Zardari insisted that the citizens and political parties of Pakistan need to work together to safeguard the country’s future. He further said that we need to eliminate the global and domestic challenges for the prosperity of our homeland.
The President pointed out the major crises like wars, economic uncertainty, climate change, and political polarisation, by emphasising that unity and resilience are the only ways to tackle such problems.
He urged for the speedy productivity, economic discipline, and investing more in sectors like education, healthcare, youth, and emerging technologies, as they are the key to progress.
Moreover, President Zardari warned by saying that climate change is becoming a critical national security concern day by day. Adaptation measures must go hand in hand with improving efforts, he said.
Political Stance of the President
While talking about politics, President Zardari demanded constructive engagement in the Parliament and offered to lead a process of national resolution. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace while stressing that the country’s defence was non-negotiable. He raised concerns over India’s use of water resources and repeated that Pakistan holds a strong stance on Kashmir and regional peace.
PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Message at the New Year
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, praised the spirit of the Pakistani people and the role of the armed forces. He said it was very difficult to make such hard decisions, but it has led towards the restoration of the economy.
By defining the Government’s plan for 2026, the PM highlighted reforms, investment, job creation and a focus on innovation, education and technology. He said Pakistan would continue to engage with the world responsibly while promoting peace, dialogue and cooperation.
