Web desk: Talks between the Awami Action Committee and the government are nearing success.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has played a key role in recent developments between the government and the Awami Action Committee.
Negotiations between the two sides are now close to reaching success, with both parties moving toward a positive resolution.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, a committee consisting of federal ministers and members of the National Assembly is in talks with the Awami Action Committee and the government committee in Muzaffarabad, which also includes ministers of Azad Kashmir.
The prime minister’s involvement has been described as crucial in bringing the talks to this stage.
According to sources, 90 per cent of the issues have been resolved in the ongoing talks between the Azad Kashmir government, the federal delegation and the Awami Action Committee, while the talks are close to success.
As per the sources, some issues have been agreed upon, and there is a possibility of forming a high-level committee for further consultation and legislation-related issues.
The high-level committee will include representatives of the political parties and the government of Pakistan, as well as members of the Awami Action Committee.
Among the points agreed upon
1- It was agreed to separate the refugee members of the assembly from the cabinet and close their development funds; however, a decision will be taken in the high-level committee to reduce or eliminate their number or change the method of election.
2- It was also agreed to reduce the privileges of the elite. It was agreed to abolish the pension of members of the assembly, the quality of vehicles for ministers, and the extent to which the privileges of former prime ministers and presidents will be reduced.
3- It was also agreed to settle issues related to other hydraulic projects, including Neelum-Jhelum.
4- Compensation will be paid to the heirs of unarmed citizens who died during the recent long march and protests.
Internet and mobile phone services are not being opened immediately because there is a risk that the videos of the last five days will go viral on social media, which will cause a backlash.
The services will be restored at least an hour after the announcement of the negotiations is issued.
At the end of the negotiations, both sides will announce a joint press conference along with the announcement.
