Motorways closed at various places in Punjab due to dense fog

Web desk: Several motorways in Punjab have been temporarily closed at different locations due to dense fog to prevent accidents.

According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, visibility has dropped to dangerous levels.

Which motorways are closed?

As a result, the M-2 motorway has been closed from Lahore to Kot Momin.

The M-3 has been closed from Faizpur to Darkhana. The M-4 has been closed from Pindi Bhattian to Gojra and also from Khanewal to Multan.

All types of traffic have been stopped on these sections.

The spokesperson said that due to the intensity of the fog, drivers face difficulty seeing ahead.

This increases the risk of accidents. The decision to close the motorways was taken as a precaution.

Heavy fog to engulf Punjab, Sindh: NDMA warns

The National Disaster Management Authority issued a warning on Friday about heavy fog in parts of the country.

The fog is expected to affect southern and central Punjab for the next three days.

The public has been advised to follow instructions from local administrations and traffic police.

Motorists have been told to drive carefully and avoid unnecessary travel during dense fog.

The NDMA said severe fog is likely in Lahore, Jhang, Multan, Khanewal, Mian Channu, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran and Vehari.

The fog may reduce visibility and disrupt traffic.

Dense fog is also expected at night and in the early morning in parts of upper Sindh, especially around Sukkur.

Islamabad has also been warned of poor visibility. The NDMA said this could increase the risk of road accidents.

The authority said it is sharing timely information on possible dangers. It
is also working with relevant departments.

The public has been advised to use the NDMA Disaster Alert mobile app for weather updates and safety alerts.
