Bangladesh cricket team has officially refused to travel to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The team stated that, under current conditions, they cannot travel and have requested that their matches be relocated elsewhere.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who now say they have “formally requested” the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move all Bangladesh’s matches.
“The board believes that such a step is necessary to safeguard the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi players, team officials, board members, and other stakeholders and to ensure that the team can participate in the tournament in a secure and appropriate environment,” a statement said.
It is pertinent to mention that Sri Lanka is co-hosting the tournament, but Bangladesh is due to play all four of their group-stage matches in India.
Bangladesh T20 World Cup group fixtures:
v West Indies: February 7, Kolkata
v Italy: February 9, Kolkata
v England: February 14, Kolkata
v Nepal: February 17, Mumbai
Bangladesh will be led by Litton Das at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The World Cup will be conducted in February-March, and the Tigers have announced a dangerous squad.
The T20 squad of the Bangladesh cricket team has also been announced.
