CHAMAN: An Earthquake has jolted Pakistan’s largest province by area, Balochistan, near Chaman and the border connecting with Afghanistan.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 3.6 on the Richter scale with a depth of 11 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 15 kilometers southeast of Chaman.
People came out of their homes in panic along with their families, however, no reports of casualties or damage were received.
KP earthquake
Earthquake tremors were felt in part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Chitral and other surrounding areas.
As per details, the earthquake caused brief panic among residents; however, no casualties were reported.
According to the seismological centre, the tremors were also felt in Malakand and Landikotal and their surrounding areas.
The National Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres, making the tremors noticeable across a wide region.
The epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, an area known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic plate movements.
Residents in affected areas reported shaking that lasted for a few seconds, prompting people to come out of their homes and buildings as a precaution. However, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received.
Barkhan Earthquake
Earthquake tremors were felt in Barkhan and adjoining areas on the evening of December 17, 2025, causing panic among residents.
According to locals, the tremors were felt around 4:30 pm.
The tremors prompted the people to rush out of their homes in fear while reciting prayers.
Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
Islamabad Earthquake
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Islamabad, said the earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale.
According to the reports, the depth of the earthquake was 25 kilometres.
The epicentre was located 27 kilometres northeast of Barkhan, at latitude 30.18 north and longitude 69.54 east.
The PMD said the situation is being closely monitored.
