The HBL Pakistan Super League‘s (PSL) auction for the two new teams is set to take place on Thursday, January 8, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.
The ceremony will be live-streamed on the HBL PSL, PCB official YouTube Channels, Tamasha, Tapmad, Myco, Tamasha, and PCB Live (UK Region). The ceremony will begin at 4:15 pm. The famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will also perform at the event after the bidding process.
Before the bidding process is started, the winning Hong Kong Super Sixes squad and the winning Pakistan Shaheens squad, which lifted the Men’s Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, will be celebrated for their achievements.
There will be a total of 10 technically qualified bidders trying to buy two new teams. The HBL PSL is expanding from six to eight teams in its 11th and landmark season. The 11th season is scheduled to take place between March 26 and May 3, 2026.
The bidders are from diverse pools of businesses. They are from areas like agro business, real estate, telecommunication, a software company from the United States and tech companies from abroad and Pakistan.
The two new teams can be from the following cities: Gilgit, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad, Hyderabad, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.
These two new teams will also become household names alongside Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. All these teams have at least won the PSL once, with Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United winning it thrice.
The HBL PSL roadshows saw massive success in London and New York on December 7th and 13th, respectively. Initially, 12 parties filed bids for the two new teams, but the bidders were thoroughly evaluated, and 10 of them were selected for the final bids. The bidders will fight for the ownership through an open auction.
