Naqvi hails PSL new teams auction as historic milestone for Pakistan Cricket

Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday hailed the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) new teams auction and termed it as a historic milestone for Pakistan Cricket.

In a statement shared on social media, Naqvi twitted that auction witnessed record-breaking bids and overwhelming investor confidence, reflecting the growing strength and global appeal of the HBL PSL.

Two new franchises Hyderabad and Sialkot were officially added to the league following intense bidding.

According to the details, FKS Group secured the Hyderabad franchise for Rs 17.5 billion, while OZ Developers acquired Sialkot for Rs 18.5 billion.

The combined value of the two franchises stands at Rs 36 billion over a 10-year period, making it one of the most significant commercial achievements in PSL history.

Describing the moment as heart-pounding and filled with pride, Naqvi said the passion and belief shown by investors demonstrated deep emotional attachment to Pakistan cricket.

He welcomed Hyderabad and Sialkot into the PSL family, stating that their inclusion marks the beginning of a new era for the league.

It was worth mentioned here that the addition of the two franchises is expected to further enhance the league’s competitiveness, commercial value, and national footprint as the HBL PSL continues to evolve as Pakistan’s premier cricketing brand.

Earlier the colorful ceremony was held at the Jinnah Convention Center Islamabad. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, Talal Chaudhry, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry among the participants.   

At the beginning of the PSL auction ceremony, the players and management of Hong Kong Super Sixes and Pakistan Shaheens were awarded prizes.

During the ceremony, Pakistan Shaheens were felicitated for winning the Rising Star Asia Cup title.

It should be remembered that Pakistan Shaheens performed brilliantly and won the Rising Star Asia Cup.

Similarly, Pakistan’s squad was successful in the Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament, for which the players and officials were appreciated.

At the ceremony, Pakistan Shaheens were given a prize money of Rs 90 million for winning the Rising Star Asia Cup, while the team’s performance was described as a symbol of the bright future of Pakistan cricket.

The winning team of the Hong Kong Sixes was given a prize of Rs 18.5 million.
