Pak-US relations at its peak, says Andy Hales

“Pakistan and United States (US) relations have reached an all-time high as billions of dollars’ investment expected in near future’ Andy Hales, Minister Counsellor for Public Diplomacy at the US Embassy in Pakistan has expressed this.

Speaking about the evolving partnership between the two countries, Hales said American companies investing in Pakistan prioritize hiring local experts and skilled workers, a practice that contributes to job creation and capacity building within the country.

He revealed that with the support of the US government’s Export-Import (Exim) Bank, investment in Pakistan’s flagship mineral project, Reko Diq, has been approved and could be worth billions of dollars.

“US private companies have shown particular interest in Pakistan’s mines and minerals sector, reflecting the growing strength of Pak-US economic relations’ he added.

The US diplomat clarified that final investment decisions rest with private American companies, but added that the US Embassy has an extraordinary level of interest in the Reko Diq project due to its strategic and economic importance.

While admiring Pakistan leadership mutual respect he stated friendly and mutually respectful relations among Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, US President Donald Trump, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have laid a strong foundation for deeper bilateral ties.

“I am proud to be serving in Pakistan at a time when relations between our two countries are on such a strong and firm foundation,” the US diplomat said.

Highlighting education as a cornerstone of bilateral relations, Hales said the Fulbright Program in Pakistan has completed 75 years.

Over this period, more than 9,000 Pakistani students have studied at leading universities in the United States.

He encouraged Pakistani youth to benefit from the free educational opportunities offered through the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and Education USA.
