PTI jalsa in Karachi Bagh-e-Jinnah

The authorities have linked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) public meeting at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi to security clearance, the private media channel reported on Friday.

PTI has submitted pay orders worth Rs2.5 million to organise the rally. This includes Rs2 million as the rally fee and Rs500,000 as a security deposit. The party is now waiting for written permission from the district administration before holding the gathering.

Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has the right to take part in political activities and can also hold a rally. He added that no one can stop a political party from carrying out a peaceful struggle.

Meanwhile, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon said the government will provide full security and protocol to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister. However, he made it clear that authorities will not allow any activity that creates problems for the public, and no one will be allowed to break the law.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned that launching any military or security operation in the province would amount to “open bullying.”

While speaking to the media at the Karachi Press Club, Afridi said authorities were not even allowing the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan to meet him, adding that they were treating him like a terrorist. He alleged that the authorities removed the PTI founder’s government illegally under what he described as the “London Plan.” Afridi stressed that the issue was not limited to PTI alone but had become a collective struggle, claiming that journalists who stood for truth and justice were also facing pressure.
