Trump reiterates eight Indian jets shot down amid Pak-India conflict

I stopped the nuclear war between Pakistan and India, claims Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed he prevented a major war between India and Pakistan.
He said both nuclear-armed neighbours were “ready to go at it big” during last year’s crisis.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump repeated his claim that eight planes were shot down during the conflict. He said he has made this claim nearly 70 times.

“I stopped eight wars, maybe eight and a quarter,” Trump said. He referred to renewed tensions between Thailand and Cambodia.

Trump said stopping long-running wars deserves global recognition.
“In theory, you should get a Nobel Prize for each war you stop,” he said.

He claimed India and Pakistan were on the brink of a major conflict. “These are two nuclear countries. I got that one stopped,” he added.

India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7.
The operation targeted what India called terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
It followed the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

Trump also spoke about Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
She had dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize last year to Trump.

Trump said Machado is expected to visit next week.
He said accepting such an honour would be a “great privilege”.

He added that not receiving a Nobel Peace Prize has been a “major embarrassment” for Norway.
He claimed the Nobel committee’s decision reflected poorly on the country.

“When you stop eight wars, you should get one prize for each,” Trump said.
