President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a session of the National Assembly to be held today (Monday),the private media channel reported.
According to an official notification, the National Assembly will convene on January 12 at 5:00 pm at the Parliament House. President Zardari called the session on the advice of the prime minister, during which lawmakers are expected to take up various matters.
The president exercised his authority under Clause 1 of Article 54 of the Constitution to summon the session.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police have formally launched an investigation into the disruption that took place during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s visit to the Punjab Assembly.
Assembly sources said the Inspector General of Punjab has submitted a copy of the incident report to the Punjab Home Department for further action. The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has also been informed about the ongoing proceedings.
