Petrol and other fuel prices in Pakistan are likely to be reduced again from January 16, according to reports on Tuesday.

If this cut takes place, it would be the fourth straight cut.

According to the sources, petrol prices may go down by up to Rs4.59 per litre.

High-speed diesel is expected to be reduced by up to Rs2.70 per litre.

Kerosene oil may become cheaper by Rs1.82 per litre.

Light diesel oil is also likely to see a cut of up to Rs2.08 per litre.

Officials said the initial calculations for lowering fuel prices have been completed.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will send its price recommendations to the Petroleum Division on January 15.

After approval from the prime minister, the Petroleum Division will officially announce the new fuel prices for consumers.

Government announces new petrol prices

Earlier this month, the government reduced petrol prices as part of New Year’s relief.

The federal government decided to reduce petrol prices by Rs10.28 per litre for a period of two weeks.

The New Year brought some relief for people in Pakistan as petrol prices were cut by Rs10.28 per litre for the fortnight starting January 1, 2026.

According to sources, the price of petrol was lowered by Rs10.28 per litre.

After the reduction, petrol became cheaper for consumers.

The price cut was expected to ease daily transport and personal fuel expenses.

In the same move, diesel prices were also reduced by Rs8.57 per litre.

OGRA announces increase in LPG prices

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued an official notification increasing the price of LPG prior to this.

According to the notification, the price of LPG per kilogram has been raised by Rs 10.68.

This brings the new rate to Rs 219.67 per kg.

Earlier this month, the LPG price was Rs 209 per kg.

Following the increase, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 126.9.

The new price has raised concerns for low-income households.
