Apple’s Siri will soon answer questions, tell stories, and assist with tasks

Apple Siri

Apple and Google have revealed plans to make Siri more personalised with the help of Gemini, according to a report by The Information. The updated digital assistant is expected to launch this spring as part of iOS 26.4.

The new Siri will be able to answer factual questions in a more natural, conversational way. It will also tell stories, offer emotional support, and assist with tasks such as booking travel or creating documents in the Notes app. For instance, users could ask Siri to jot down a cooking recipe while managing other daily tasks.

Apple has said the updated assistant will have a better understanding of a user’s personal context. This includes on-screen awareness and deeper controls within individual apps. In a demonstration, Siri was able to check a mother’s flight details and lunch reservations by accessing information from the Mail and Messages apps.

The Information report adds that Apple plans to reveal further Siri features at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. These updates are expected to allow Siri to recall past conversations and provide proactive suggestions based on information from apps such as Calendar.

Although Gemini powers the new capabilities, Apple will fine-tune the system to ensure Siri responds in a way that matches the company’s style. The latest prototype does not carry Google or Gemini branding, keeping the assistant distinctly Apple.

The personalised Siri was first previewed at WWDC 2024, but its full functionality will roll out gradually. While iOS 26.4 is expected to launch in March or April, some features will not appear until iOS 27.

Apple’s efforts aim to make Siri more helpful and human-like, moving beyond simple voice commands to a smarter assistant that can assist users throughout their day.
