Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has completed inquiries against 4,000 passengers who were deported from Islamabad International Airport showing their commitment to counter human trafficking,
The inner sources revealed that majority of the deported passengers were travelling on fake or fabricated documents. The inquiries revealed that forged visas, passports, and other false travel papers were being used to send people abroad illegally.
During the investigation several agents and facilitators who allegedly cheated passengers by promising overseas travel through illegal means were also identified. These agents are believed to be involved in organized human trafficking networks.
The FIA has decided to launch a major crackdown against agents and facilitators involved in sending people abroad using false documents. Preparations to register criminal cases against those involved in human trafficking have been completed, while statements of the deported passengers have already been recorded.
According to sources, FIA officials stated that elements exploiting and robbing innocent citizens will be brought to justice. Special investigation teams have also been formed to dismantle networks involved in illegal overseas travel and document fraud.
The FIA has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against human traffickers and urged citizens to avoid dealing with unregistered agents when seeking employment or travel opportunities abroad.
On the other hand, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi also conducted joint ceremony for destruction of prohibited, expired, and hazardous goods under the Customs Act. Items destroyed included betel nuts, gutka, alcohol, Ajinomoto salt, cigarettes, tobacco products, animal vaccines, heroin, hashish, and other harmful goods banned under the Import Policy Order 2022. The total value of the destroyed goods was approximately Rs. 3.92 billion.
