The Punjab Sahulaat Bazaars Authority has completed the free home delivery of more than 301,200 orders of essential food items across the province.
The service was launched under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
There was an official statement released on Saturday that confirmed the progress.
This initiative is the first government-run project in Punjab to provide free home delivery of food items at subsidised prices.
Punjab Sahulat Bazaars
Its aim is to give direct relief to citizens by delivering daily necessities to their homes.
The service is currently active in 35 cities through 46 Sahulaat Bazaars.
Residents can order essential food items without paying any delivery charges.
Under the scheme, prices of 13 basic food items are set up to 7 per cent lower than the officially notified DC rates.
Citizens can place their orders through a dedicated mobile application.
Punjab Sahulat Bazaars app
The app is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. PSBA riders handle the delivery and ensure items reach homes on time.
The items offered include potatoes, onions, tomatoes, pumpkin, garlic, apples, bananas, dates, lemons, guava, and watermelon.
Other than that, pulses and staples such as chickpeas, gram flour, wheat flour, and sugar are also available.
The service helps people save money and reduces travel and fuel costs.
Officials said the project has helped citizens save around Rs110 million so far.
These savings also come from buying essential items at lower prices without people having to leave their homes.
CM Maryam Nawaz
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the government will continue efforts to protect people from inflation.
She also announced plans to expand the free home delivery service to more cities in Punjab in phases.
Authorities have urged citizens to use the mobile application.
They also encouraged people to benefit from subsidised prices and free doorstep delivery.
