The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flash flood advisory as rain and snowfall are expected in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to January 24. The department has issued a flood alert in KP.

As per the press release issued by PDMA, the tributaries of the River Kabul may rise between January 22 and January 23.
According to PDMA, a powerful westerly weather system is set to impact the upper parts of the country, raising the risk of increased water levels in the Kabul River and its associated streams.
Administration at high alert
The authority has placed district administrations in Swat, Chitral, Dir, Buner, Shangla, and other areas on alert, directing them to take advance precautionary measures. Special vigilance has been ordered for low-lying and sensitive locations, while Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and other emergency services have been instructed to remain on high alert.

Residents living close to the banks of the Kabul River have been cautioned to adopt safety measures. Farmers and livestock owners have been urged to shift animals to safer areas, and unnecessary movement in flood-prone zones should be avoided.
PDMA has also directed authorities to ensure the timely evacuation of vulnerable populations if the situation worsens.
