Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleema Khan has announced countrywide protests on February 8 next month. Imran Khan’s sister urged PTI workers to come out on February 8 and protest for their stolen votes.
Speaking to the media after a court appearance, Aleema Khan said the entire country would shut down on 8 February as people take part in PTI protests against what she described as electoral injustice. She said the call for protests on 8 February reflects public anger over what she termed a stolen mandate.
Aleema Khan claimed that authorities respond harshly even to the mention of Imran Khan’s name. She alleged that police detained children for chanting slogans in support of Imran Khan outside Adiala Jail, adding that such actions have increased ahead of 8 February.
She further claimed that police personnel privately express support for Imran Khan but remain silent due to fear of their senior officers, particularly as 8 February approaches and political pressure mounts.
Accusing police of using force against PTI supporters during a rally on Adiala Road, she alleged baton charges, arrests, and the mistreatment of women. She said authorities deployed hundreds of police personnel to block PTI protests planned for 8 February.
Aleema Khan said the party would continue its struggle, stressing that peace would only prevail after justice is delivered and the public mandate is restored, a demand she said would remain central to the 8 February protests.
