The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday issued a weather alert, warning of rain and snowfall across the province from January 25 to 27.
PDMA said the Pakistan Meteorological Department has identified a new westerly weather system that will affect most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this period.
Upper districts, including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and other high-altitude areas, are likely to receive rain and snowfall, with some locations facing heavy snowfall that could cause a sharp drop in temperatures.
Meanwhile, PDMA said lower and plain areas such as Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, and Kohat may experience heavy rain along with thunder and lightning.
The authority warned that rain and snowfall could make roads slippery and lead to possible closures in tourist and mountainous areas, including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral.
PDMA also cautioned about the risk of landslides and avalanches in upper districts due to continuous rain and snow, directing authorities to closely monitor vulnerable streams and nullahs in sensitive areas.

The public advisory for travellers from Lahore states that all hotels and guest houses in Murree are fully booked and there is heavy snowfall in the hill station.
The minister urged travellers to postpone their visits to Murrree because the area is filled with vehicles and there is no more capacity left for extra vehicles, adding that there is no further accommodation left for new visitors.
