Students below the age of five will not be allowed to participate in activities on school rooftops.

The presence of teachers in schools will be mandatory during celebrations.

Azma Bokhari about Basant

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that strict Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) would be enforced throughout the festival to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.

In a video message, the provincial minister said the government considered public enjoyment and public safety its top priority. She reiterated that the Basant Festival would take place in Lahore on February 6, 7 and 8.

Azma said the event aimed to revive Punjab’s cultural colours, traditions and festivities.

She termed this festival as a symbol of Punjab’s ancient civilisation, culture and joy.

The festival is returning to Lahore after 18 years. The Punjab government has announced that there are no plans to celebrate Basant across the province and also notified a host of rules for the three-day festival.
