The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain and snowfall in different parts of the country from today through Tuesday.
Tonight, in the country western regions a system of winds is expected to enter and will affect the upper parts of Pakistan until Monday, the Meteorological Department predicted.
Rain is expected in in Galiyat, Murree, Islamabad Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Balochistan, Gillgit Baltistan and Kashmir while snowfall is likely in the mountainous areas.
In addition, in Lahore, Multan and in various parts of Punjab the intermittent rain may occur.
As per PMD in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar, Mardan, Haripur, Nowshera and Kohat rain is expected.
Meanwhile, heavy snowfall in upper areas including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam and Chitral may lead to road blockages, increasing the risk of travel disruptions.
The PMD further said that parts of Balochistan, including Qalat, Mastung, Zhob, Noshki and Kharan are likely to receive rainfall.
Additionally, snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, and Qila Abdullah on Monday and Tuesday.
Authorities have urged the tourists and commuters to exercise caution, particularly in hilly regions due to the possibility of slippery roads and reduced visibility.
Relevant authorities have been alerted to remain prepared for any emergency situations arising from adverse weather conditions.
Snow, heavy rain kill 61 in Afghanistan
As per reports heavy snowfall in Afghanistan has claimed at least 61 lives.
According to reports, 110 people got injured and 458 houses were either partially or fully destroyed.
A total of 360 families were affected.
The casualties happened between Wednesday and Friday mainly in central and northern provinces of the country.
According to United Nations, around half of Afghanistan’s population of more than 40 million people will need humanitarian assistance this year.
Afghanistan is confronting an escalating humanitarian emergency as freezing winter conditions, widespread food insecurity and sharp reductions in international aid leave millions struggling to survive, aid agencies have warned.
