American women’s football star Trinity Rodman has become the world’s highest paid female footballer in 2026.
According to media reports she achieved this milestone by signing a historic contract with Washington Spirit.
Trinity Rodman daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman has signed a three-year deal with Washington Spirit under which she will earn an annual salary of $2 million including bonuses.
The contract was finalized on January 22 during a special press conference and will keep her with the club until 2028.
The 23-year-old Rodman was previously a free agent after her earlier contract with Washington Spirit expired on December 31. Until 2025, the total salary cap for each team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) was set at $3.5 million.
However a new rule approved in December under the high impact player provision allows clubs to spend an additional $1 million on star players who meet specific criteria making this record-breaking deal possible.
After signing the contract Trinity Rodman expressed her feelings she said that it feels unbelievable and that she is extremely grateful.

When the 38-year-old Argentina legend was asked what he prefers for his post-retirement time, he opted for club ownership.
“I don’t see myself as a coach, I want to have my own club, start from the bottom and make it big. Being able to give kids the opportunity to develop and achieve something important. If I had to choose, that would appeal to me more,” he added.
