The displaced victims from Tirah Valley have expressed serious reservations over Rs 4 billion relief package announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and viewed that they have not received any financial assistance so far.
According to the victims, severe cold, illness and the lack of basic facilities have made their lives unbearable, while official claims appear to be at odds with ground realities.
The victims viewed that although the provincial government announced a Rs 4bn relief package, its transparent implementation is nowhere to be seen on the ground.
They alleged that the funds have been embezzled at the official level and that relief tokens are being issued to unrelated individuals, while genuine victims are being ignored.
According to them, on political grounds, the Chief Minister and the provincial government are assisting only people affiliated with the PTI, leaving real victims empty-handed.
They further said that during the harsh winter, sick and vulnerable people are forced to visit registration centres repeatedly, yet they still receive no assistance.
One displaced family said that it spent Rs140,000 on four vehicles during relocation, but the government has so far provided zero support.
The victims also claimed that despite obtaining NADRA clearance, they were not given a single penny, while government officials continue to make various excuses.
The displaced families alleged that genuine victims are being continuously ignored, while unrelated individuals are being included in the relief system. They said they possess evidence to support their claims and are ready to present it at any forum.
The victims of Tirah Valley have demanded a transparent investigation into the four-billion-rupee relief package and immediate, non-discriminatory financial assistance for the actual victims so they can meet their basic needs during this difficult time.
