Sindh govt takes major step to ensure free education in Schools

The Sindh government has directed all private schools in the province to provide free education to at least 10 per cent of their students, according to reports on Thursday.

Sindh: free education in Schools

The Sindh government has taken an important and tough decision for private schools across the province, making them obliged to provide free education to at least ten per cent of their total enrolled students.

According to the details, it has been clarified in this regard that the registration of private schools that do not implement this order will be cancelled.

After this decision of the government, the registration of several private schools in the province has been threatened.

According to the details, the directives are expected to make sure that the underprivileged and poor children have access to quality education.

Schools are required to make arrangements to fulfil their legal obligation and strictly implement the rule, according to the reports.

The reports further suggest that a notification issued by the Sindh Education Department refers to the Sindh Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2013, which mandates that every private school must provide free education to a minimum of 10 per cent of its enrolled students.

To prove compliance, schools will need to submit zero-fee vouchers and other documentation demonstrating that 10 per cent of their students are receiving free education.

Private schools will only get or renew their registration if they provide proof that they are following this rule.

The notification also warns that in cases of non-compliance, the relevant District Director of Schools will be held responsible. Additionally, a disciplinary action will be taken against them.
