The protest sit in at Ziarat Cross in Pishin ended on Tuesday after successful negotiations by Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Sarfraz Bugti. The highway has also been reopened for traffic.
The CM reached Ziarat Cross and met the protesters. He listened to their demands and concerns in detail. Further, he announced immediate steps to address the issues.
CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti also formed a committee to review the protesters’ demands and prepare practical recommendations.
He invited a representative delegation of the protesters to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for detailed talks. And also to present their demands.
He assured the protesters that their legitimate demands would be addressed in accordance with the law, merit, and justice.
Addressing the protesters, the chief minister said that enemies were attacking Balochistan from two sides.
He said that on one hand, innocent civilians were being killed, while on the other, efforts were being made to affect people’s livelihoods.
Further, he added that the blame for these actions was also being placed on state institutions.
He said that in such circumstances, it was necessary for the entire nation to show unity and solidarity to defeat every conspiracy of the enemy.
The chief minister said that the Balochistan government was always available to resolve public issues.
Adding that differences and grievances could only be resolved through dialogue, mutual trust, and constitutional and legal procedures.
He appealed to the public to prioritise peace, brotherhood, and national interest. And to fully cooperate with state institutions.
Following the chief minister’s assurances and the positive progress in talks, the protesters announced the end of the sit in at Ziarat Cross and reopened the highway for all kinds of traffic. Traffic has since returned to normal.
CM Balochistan announces award
Recently, CM Sarfraz Bugti announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq, the man who tried to save Dr Mahnoor after an acid attack.
In a CCTV video capturing the attack on the doctor, it can be seen that when a man threw acid on her, Abdul Razzaq rushed to save her despite the acid being splashed everywhere.
The chief minister also spoke with him after the incident, praised his courage, and said he was proud of his bravery and spirit.
