CM Balochistan announces award for man who tried to save Dr Mahnoor

Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Sarfraz Bugti has announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq, who tried to save Dr Mahnoor after an acid attack.

In a CCTV video capturing the attack on the doctor, it can be seen that when a man threw acid on her, Abdul Razzaq rushed to save her despite the acid being splashed everywhere.

Razzaq later sustained burns and collapsed on the floor while trying to save her.

The chief minister also spoke with him after the incident, praised his courage, and said he was proud of his bravery and spirit, adding that the government of Balochistan will bear all medical expenses for his treatment.

He said courageous and responsible individuals like him are a pride for the nation.

He added that Abdul Razzaq Torkai’s bravery will be recognised at the national level, and his timely action sets a remarkable example of humanity and professional duty.

Dr Mahnoor, a postgraduate doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta, is currently hospitalised in Karachi, and around 70 per cent of her body was affected in the incident.

“Arrangements were made to provide the injured doctor with the best available medical facilities, and she has been transferred to Karachi for further treatment”, said the chief minister’s spokesman and adviser, Shahid Rind.

She suffered severe burn injuries to her face, chest, legs, and other parts of her body.

According to reports, the man who attacked her was a former employee of the hospital. According to the police, he was killed in an encounter.

The suspect reportedly knocked on the doctor’s room door and threw acid on her when she came out of the room
