Shab-e-Barat holiday announced in Sindh

The Sindh government has announced a holiday for all public and private educational institutions across the province on Wednesday, February 4, in observance of Shab-e-Barat.

Shab-e-Barat will be observed across Pakistan on Thursday, February 3, 2026.

Shab-e-Barat holiday in Sindh

The Sindh government has announced a holiday for all educational institutions across the province on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.

Both public and private schools and colleges will remain closed on Wednesday, February 4.

The decision was made by the Sindh School Education Department, which issued an official notification confirming the Shab-e-Barat holiday.

According to the notification, schools will remain shut in observance of Shab-e-Barat, which is on the 15th of Shaban.

The closure follows the recommendation of the Education Steering Committee. It was decided that February 4 will be a holiday for all educational institutions in the province.

Shab-e-Barat holiday in Punjab

The Punjab government has announced a province-wide public holiday on Wednesday, February 4, on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. An official notification has been issued in this regard.

The holiday will be observed across all districts of the province.

According to the notification from the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, government corporations, local councils, and all public and semi-public schools and colleges under the Punjab government control will remain closed on that day.

The decision has been taken to allow citizens to participate in religious activities without any problems.

The Auqaf Department and other relevant authorities have been directed to make proper arrangements at mosques, shrines, and graveyards to help manage the crowds and to avoid any disorder.

According to tradition, Shab-e-Barat is observed on the 15th night of the Islamic month of Sha’ban.

Shab-e-Barat is celebrated with devotion and religious enthusiasm across the country.

This year, Sha’ban began in Pakistan on January 21, 2026, as confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
