A young man, Faisal, sustained critical injuries when a kite string cut his throat while he was riding a motorcycle in the Gajumata area of Kahna, Lahore, on Friday, a private media channel reported.
Rescue teams immediately shifted Faisal to a Lahore hospital, where sources confirmed he is in stable condition.
The Punjab government recently announced the Basant festival, scheduled for February 6 to 8, allowing kite flying under strict safety rules. The law prohibits the use of metallic wires for kites and imposes heavy fines and severe punishments for anyone who violates these regulations.
Authorities emphasized that following the safety rules is crucial to prevent accidents like the one that injured Faisal.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has apologised for sharing the wrong report regarding the Bhati Gate manhole tragedy where a mother along with her 10-month-old child lost their lives after they fell into a sewerage line.
Azma Bokhari admitted that the information that she initially distributed was based on misinformation provided by an employee of Rescue 1122. She said that she was not at the site of the accident and depended on the details sent to her by a Rescue 1122 employee, Shahid Waheed.
According to the minister, the employee had sent her a video of the location and said that the space was too small for anyone to fall into.
