The authorities have allowed registered traders to bring kite-flying items into Lahore from other districts, a private media channel reported on Friday. Officials introduced the move to manage supply and demand during the Basant season.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore directed that only registered traders can transport kite-flying items from outside the city. Traders must obtain an online transport permit through the e-Biz portal before moving goods into Lahore.
Officials also restricted business activities and the storage of kite-flying items to commercial locations approved by the DC. The administration said it aims to control prices, prevent illegal transportation, and avoid shortages during Basant.
Authorities announced strict enforcement against banned items, including metallic kite strings and hazardous chemicals. They also banned kites carrying religious, political, or controversial images.
The administration warned that it will take action against anyone violating the rules, stressing that public safety remains a top priority during the festival.
