An explosion at a building in the port of Bandar Abbas in Southeastern Iran was reported.

An explosion struck a building in the Gulf coastal city of Bandar Abbas, Iran, on Saturday, according to media reports, with the cause of the blast still unknown.

However, Iranian state media said the explosion occurred in an eight-storey building on Moalem Boulevard, destroying two floors of the structure. Several vehicles and nearby shops were also damaged in the incident.

Rescue and firefighting teams were deployed to the scene, and relief operations are ongoing.

Iranian media have denied reports suggesting that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was targeted in the explosion.
