The government has announced a big relief for school students affiliated with the Cambridge system who were forced to appear as private candidates.
As per details, schools affiliated with the Cambridge system will no longer be able to force students to appear as private candidates.
The Sindh government has taken strict notice against private schools and declared the cancellation of student admissions and forcing them to register as private candidates as illegal.
The Education Department stated that action will be taken against schools implementing unapproved admission policies. Preventing students from taking exams despite collecting fees has been declared a violation of the law.
The Directorate of Inspection and Registration Sindh has released an official circular warning private schools that responsibility for students’ academic performance lies with the school administration and teachers. The department said it will ensure the protection of students’ rights in Cambridge examinations.
The department has strictly directed that the practice of forcing students to appear as private candidates must be stopped immediately, otherwise action will be taken against violating schools under the relevant laws.
Scholarships announced at Oxford University
Earlier, the government announced scholarships for students seeking graduate, master’s, M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees at Oxford University.
As per details, the oxford scholarships were announced after the recent visit of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to Oxford University.
Eligibility
The education department of Sindh stated that the students applying for graduate, master’s, M.Phil and PhD and have Sindh domicile and national identity card are eligible for the Oxford University scholarships.
The candidates should also meet the merit and English language proficiency requirements of Oxford University.
Selection process
The department said that the shortlisted candidates would be called for an interview before being finalised for the scholarship.
