Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Islamabad on two-day visit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Upon arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, the Uzbek President was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

A 21-gun salute was presented in his honour, while children dressed in traditional cultural attire welcomed the visiting dignitary with bouquets and flags of both countries.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan were also present at the reception.

According to a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, President Mirziyoyev will hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. Delegation-level talks between the two sides will also be held to discuss matters of mutual interest.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum. The talks are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, and defence sectors, while also promoting education, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity.

This marks the second official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan. The visit reflects the rapidly growing ties between the two brotherly countries and is expected to result in agreements aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
