ISLAMABAD: The federal capital may be sealed at any time today due to a protest march by the Tehrik-e-Labaik-Pakistan (TLP) towards Islamabad.
After the announcement of the protest, containers are being seen along the entrances of the federal capital and police personnel have also been deployed at various places. Metro bus services have been closed in the twin cities till further notice.
Police sources say that Islamabad will be sealed at any time after this evening, the Red Zone will be completely sealed after some time and only authorized persons will be allowed to enter and exit through Margalla Road.
Police sources say that a decision regarding the shutdown of mobile phone signals due to the TLP march is also under consideration.
No notifications regarding closure of schools and offices has yet been issued.
Sources say that the administration has also issued orders to vacate hotels and hostels on Murree Road Faizabad by 6:00 am Friday. The Faizabad bus stop has also been closed.
In this regard, CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani said that violent activity under the guise of protest will not be tolerated, those violating the law will be dealt with strictly, while attacks on property or law enforcement agencies will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
METRO BUS SERVICE SUSPENDED
The Metro Bus Service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been temporarily shut down due to heightened security concerns, according to a notification issued by the District Magistrate, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The move, described as a precautionary measure, aims to prevent any untoward incident amid the ongoing security situation in the Twin Cities.
As per the notification, all Metro Bus routes will remain closed from 5:00 PM on October 9 till October 10, 2025, affecting commuters in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
