The T20 World Cup officially gets underway on Saturday. Pakistan will begin their campaign with a match against the Netherlands, as fans around the globe prepare for another exciting edition of the tournament.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s National T-20 cricket team captain Salman Ali Agha has said that the decision regarding a potential match against India lies with the government, and the team will respect whatever decision is taken.
Speaking at the captains’ press conference in Colombo yesterday ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, Salman Agha stated that matters related to playing against India are not in the team’s control. “The decision is to be taken by the government, and we respect the government’s decision,” he said. He also expressed regret over Bangladesh’s absence from the tournament, calling it unfortunate.
Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming World Cup, Salman Agha said this will be his first ICC event as captain and he is very excited about the opportunity. He admitted that the team had not met fans’ expectations in previous tournaments but expressed confidence in the current squad. “The team is playing well, and hopefully the results will also be good,” he added.
The Pakistan captain emphasised that no team can be considered weak in the World Cup. He said the squad is preparing thoroughly, particularly for their opening match against the Netherlands. Speaking about the host nation, Salman Agha described Sri Lanka as a second home, praising the local people and conditions. “It always feels good to play cricket in Sri Lanka,” he said.
