The suicide bomber has attacked the Khadija-tul-Kubra mosque in the Trlai area of Islamabad. According to the media reports, 31 individuals have been killed, and around 170 others are injured and in the PIMS hospital for their treatment. The federal health minister said that the condition of almost 25 people is critical in the hospital. The reports also confirmed that two suicide bombers carried out a suicide bombing on the mosque during Friday prayers.
Eyewitness explains everything
Several videos of eyewitnesses in critical condition are going viral on social media. In one video, an eyewitness confirmed that two suicide bombers had attacked the mosque in Tarali. According to his details, the attackers initially gunned down the security guards at the entrance of the mosque, and then they entered the mosque.
The eyewitness also confirmed that the suicide bomber blew himself up in the middle row, adding that it was the first rakat of Friday prayer.
The eyewitness also said that the suicide blast happened when all the worshippers were performing sajdah.
Another injured eyewitness said that when he was conscious, there were just dead bodies everywhere, even in the lawn of the mosque.
Attacker’s identification:
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the suicide attacker was from Pakistan, but he travelled to Afghanistan multiple times. Khawaja Asif further added that the suicide attacker was brainwashed by Fitna-al-Khawarij. He also remarked that the family of the suicide attacker involved in the suicide bombing is also extremist.
Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, has also confirmed that the attacker travelled to Afghanistan multiple times and got training there.
Basant is cancel
After the suicide bombing in the Tarlai mosque, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has announced the cancellation of the Basant festivities for today. She took this decision in solidarity with the citizens who lost their lives in a suicide attack in Islamabad.
Maryam Nawaz wrote on X, “In the wake of the Islamabad tragedy, I am cancelling all my Basant-related activities that were scheduled for tomorrow. The mega Basant show at the Liberty Square also been cancelled. P.S: It is imperative that the nation remains united against the Khwarji menace and their ‘sympathisers’, shows them no mercy, and stands shoulder to shoulder with our Armed Forces in defence of the country. Pakistan Zindabad.”
