The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has warned students and parents against being victims of such fraudulent admissions claims made by medical and dental colleges.
In an official notice, the council said that it has noticed a rise in deceptive advertisements being made on social media and in print media especially to ease the students who were not able to clear the MDCAT.
PMDC made it clear that candidates who do not qualify the MDCAT are not eligible for his/her admission to medical or dental colleges in Pakistan and will not be registered.
The council also emphasised that just because someone got admission to a medical or dental institution abroad, it does not result in their registration in Pakistan. Graduates are required to adhere to all regulatory requirements and passing the MDCAT in order to qualify for PMDC registration.
Students and parents were warned to rely solely on official sources and check with the websites of provincial admitting universities and relevant authorities for admission information to avoid misinformation.
New MDCAT rules announced
Previously, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had revised the MDCAT examination criteria and schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026 academic session.
As per the new criteria, candidates must now secure at least 65 per cent marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent qualification to qualify for the test, up from the previous 60 per cent requirement.
Additionally, applicants must now hold matriculation, intermediate and domicile certificates from the same province where they intend to take the MDCAT.
This step aims to reduce administrative complications and ensure fairness in seat allocation and monitoring.
The revised MDCAT syllabus will cover Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. It will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions with no negative marking.
PMDC has directed all exam papers to be prepared under a standardised national framework using a centralised question bank to maintain transparency.
The MDCAT is mandatory for admission to medical and dental colleges in Pakistan.
