The Punjab government has named Ali Mustafa Dar as Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz on Artificial Intelligence and special initiatives. With this appointment, the government will create a new department to promote innovation-based policy, the use of technology, and AI-driven projects throughout Punjab.
Ali Mustafa Dar, as an advisor to CM, will have the power of provincial cabinet ministers and can attend the Punjab assembly sessions as per the existing law.
According to the media reports, Ali Dar, in his official role, will focus on developing and implementing future-focused projects meant to enhance governance, creating jobs and improving service delivery, with a special focus on new technologies and AI-based solutions.
Ali has his previous studies in science and technology. He did his graduation from University College London (UCL). He also earned a Software Engineering degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). After completing his studies at Aitchison College, Lahore, he moved to the United Kingdom (UK) for higher studies.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ali Mustafa Dar is the husband of Maryam Nawaz’s sister, Asma Nawaz.
Since the PML-N government came to power in 2024, Ali has been involved in several pro-bono, country-related initiatives behind the scenes. With more than two decades of international experience, he reportedly played a key role in facilitating high-level international engagements during the party’s current term.
He persuaded several of his personal contacts to visit and invest in Pakistan, including arranging visits to Islamabad and Lahore by senior global business leaders from the technology and real estate sectors. His efforts focused on strengthening Pakistan’s global image, attracting foreign investment, and building long-term partnerships to support economic growth and technology-driven development initiatives.
