Pakistan fast bowler, Ehsan Adil, has been scheduled to play against his former team, now representing the United States for the T20 World Cup 2026.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Event Technical Committee approved Ehsan Adil to play as a replacement for the American right-arm medium-pace bowler, Jasdeep Singh.
Ehsan Adil was called in as a replacement for this year’s T20 World Cup after Jasdeep Singh was ruled out due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the New Zealand warm up match on 5 February.

It is important to note that Adil last played for Pakistan during the ICC World Cup 2015. He debuted for Pakistan at the age of only 19 against South Africa.
During the 2015 World Cup quarterfinal against Australia, he played his final match for Pakistan. Former member of Pakistan’s Under-19 team in the 2012 World Cup in Australia, currently holds the title of the second-highest wicket-taker in the President’s Trophy. He took 54 wickets at 17.88.
His victory at the Australia World Cup earned him a spot in the Pakistan squad for the test series in South Africa.
Following his relocation to the United States and his success in Major League Cricket, Adil has completely changed the course of his career. He brings years of experience to the US team, having claimed 245 first-class wickets and a strong T20 record during his time playing in Pakistan’s domestic league.
However, the decision has sparked debate for the US’s match against Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
With Ehsan Adil joining the growing number of players of Pakistani descent in the American camp, this game will be a major test for a Pakistani team that is still recovering from their 2024 loss to the US.
