During an exclusive interview in New York, the United States President Donald Trump has reiterated that he stopped the 4-day Pakistan India war that broke out in May 2025.
He said he personally phoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and warned him that the United States would not pursue a trade agreement with India if the two nuclear-armed neighbors went to war.
“I told Prime Minister Modi over the phone that we were unable to reach a trade agreement. No, we need to negotiate a trade agreement. We can’t, I said. With Pakistan, you are launching a war. We will not take action. Then I called Pakistan and told them that since they were fighting India, we would not be doing business with them. You should let us fight, they said. Both of them said that,” President Trump remarked.
Eventually, Trump claimed, both nations “understood” and the fighting ceased in two days. “They said, ‘We understand,’ and they ceased fighting when they called after literally two days. And now, do you think Biden would have done that? I don’t think so,” the US president said. “How is that? Isn’t that amazing?
Pakistan India war 2025
India launched punitive strikes on Pakistan on May 7 in response to a terrorist attack on April 22, 2025. This sparked the most significant military confrontation between the two rival nuclear-armed states in decades, a four-day battle between India and Pakistan from May 7–10. Despite widespread misinformation about what happened, both sides have declared victory.
Pakistan launched the Fatah-I and Fatah-II missiles, along with other missile types, against India for the first time using conventionally armed short-range ballistic missiles.
As India attacked three Pakistani air force bases, including the highly sensitive Nur Khan base in Rawalpindi which houses the nation’s military headquarters, the level of danger increased even further on May 9–10.
In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which is derived from the Holy Quran and means “firm united structure”. The operation targeted military installations and air bases located deep within Indian territory including Indian-administered Kashmir.
