Pakistan’s central bank has announced new timings for Ramzan 2026, introducing temporary changes to facilitate employees and customers observing the holy month.
In a statement, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said all public and private banks will follow a special schedule throughout Ramzan. The adjusted timings are aimed at easing the routine for those who are fasting.
Office, public dealing hours
According to the SBP, from Monday to Thursday, bank office hours will be from 9:00am to 3:00pm. On Fridays, offices will operate from 9:00am to 12:30pm.
For customer transactions, banks will provide services from 9:00am to 2:00pm between Monday and Thursday. On Fridays, public dealing will continue from 9:00am to 12:30pm.
The central bank said the revised schedule will remain in place for the entire month of Ramzan. Normal banking hours will resume once the month concludes.
Expected start of Ramzan
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the beginning of Ramzan 2026. The holy month is expected to start either on Thursday, February 19, 2026, or Friday, February 20, 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet on the evening of 18 February to observe the crescent and make the final announcement.
According to astronomical estimates, if the month of Shaban lasts 29 days, Ramzan will begin on February 19, 2026. If Shaban completes 30 days, the first fast will be observed on February 20, 2026.
